Goldsboro Burger King shooting injures Pikeville man, police say

GOLDSBORO, N.C. (WNCN) — A Pikeville man was shot while walking past a Burger King restaurant in Goldsboro minutes before 10 a.m. Saturday, police said.

The incident was reported at 1807 Wayne Memorial Drive, a Burger King, just before 9:50 a.m., according to a news release from the Goldsboro Police Department.

The victim, a 21-year-old man, reported walking through the restaurant parking lot and hearing a “pop,” the release said.

The man went to the business and later discovered his leg was injured. When police arrived, they found a man with a gunshot wound to the leg, officers said.

EMS crews responded and took the victim, a Pikeville native, to UNC Health Wayne for non-life-threatening injuries.

“The Goldsboro Police Department’s Bureau of Investigative Services was contacted and responded to the scene,” the press release states. “This is an active investigation.”

Officers said anyone with information about the shooting should contact the Goldsboro Police Department's Criminal Investigation Division or Crimestoppers at 919-735-2255.

Crime Stoppers offers cash rewards for information leading to arrests of up to $500 for crimes with recovery of drugs, guns, property or fugitive arrests and up to $1,500 for criminal arrests.
