Original story (published: June 2, 2024):

ROCK HILL, S.C. — The Rock Hill Police Department is investigating after two people were killed and two others injured after a shooting at a block party.

Investigators say it happened on Southland Drive shortly after 10 p.m. Saturday night. Rock Hill police said officers were in the area at the time and heard several gunshots ring out.

A 44-year-old woman and a 21-year-old man died instantly. A third victim, a 25-year-old woman, was treated on site by emergency services. Officers added that a 24-year-old man later arrived at the hospital with a minor gunshot wound.

Neighbors say they're considering putting an end to the annual block party on Southland Drive.

“If they want to party, go to a park, not to the houses where people live,” said one resident who wished to remain anonymous. “I’m not against people having fun. People should have fun and enjoy life, but not this way. Not like this.”

Police say they are still investigating the shooting and are not ready to release details about a possible suspect. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call Rock Hill police.
