HOLLYWOOD, Md. – On June 18, 2024, Kody, 17, was seriously injured after being struck by a vehicle on Vista Road near Whiskey Creek Road. Now, a GoFundMe page has been created to help his family with unexpected medical expenses.

According to the GoFundMe page, Kody, who is a student-athlete, was hit by a vehicle while running.

“Although he moved safely to the side of the road, a driver hit him, causing him to overturn the car,” as stated on the GoFundMe page.

Kody suffered multiple injuries, including a major elbow injury, a torn tricep, a fractured elbow, and numerous scrapes and bruises. According to updates on the fundraising page, Kody has already undergone two surgeries.

“Good news!!!! Kody's surgery went well and the doctors think he won't need any more surgeries. He should be going home TODAY,” a posted update reads on June 22, 2024. “He is doing much better than expected and we have all of your prayers, the staff at the University of Maryland Capital Region Medical Center and everyone who helped him is here to thank him. He can now begin to heal and recover. I'm sure it will start with the longest nap of his life!

The GoFundMe page also noted that this should serve as a good reminder to share the road and be aware of your surroundings.
