Gloversville man convicted of bank robbery conspiracy

ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) — A Gloversville man was sentenced Friday for his involvement in a bank robbery plot, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office. Luke Kenna, 44, faces three years and five months in prison.

  • Conspiracy to commit bank robbery
  • Illegal possession of a firearm

Michael Brown was also convicted Friday for participating in the conspiracy. Brown faces three years and one month in prison.

The U.S. Attorney's Office says Kenna and Brown admitted to agreeing and planning to commit an armed robbery at a Johnstown bank branch. As part of the plot, Kenna allegedly monitored the bank and purchased items, such as weapons, to commit the robbery.

Kenna admitted to possessing a rifle after previously being convicted of misdemeanor domestic violence. Kenna and Brown will also face three years of probation upon their release from prison and Kenna had to give up the gun.

A third conspirator, Brian Tierney, of Lynchburg, Virginia, also pleaded guilty to the plot and will be sentenced August 16.
