Glamorous lawyer's alleged $150 million fraud

The glamorous lawyer, daughter of embattled property developer Jean Nassif, has appeared in court as she faces allegations she used fraudulent contracts to secure a $150 million loan.

Ashlyn Nassif was arrested earlier this year following a police raid on four properties, including the offices of her law firm EA Legal, and charged with dishonestly obtaining a financial advantage by deception and publishing false or misleading material.

The 27-year-old is accused of submitting false contracts to fulfill a $10.5 million pre-sale condition for the Sky View apartments in Castle Hill, in Sydney's northwest.

Ms Nassif appeared at Burwood Local Court on Wednesday, wearing a black and white checked ensemble teamed with knee-high boots.

The glamorous lawyer held her black shoulder bag as she entered the courthouse, while a rosary dangled around her neck.

She appeared before magistrate Vivien Swain, who adjourned the case for two weeks. Ms. Nassif is not required to appear at the next opportunity if she is legally represented.

Over three months in late 2021, Ms Nassif is accused of submitting false contracts to Westpac Bank to dishonestly obtain a $150 million loan to finance three of five Skyview towers which included around 960 apartments.

The apartment tower complex was being built by his father's development company, Toplace.

At the time of the alleged offence, Ms Nassif was a law clerk in the Supreme Court of New South Wales and a partner at EA Legal. There is no suggestion of wrongdoing on the part of the company.

Ms Nassif was released on bail in May after her family posted a $2.6 million bond.

She is barred from contacting 24 people linked to the alleged fraud, must live at her mother's home in Chiswick and adhere to a 9pm to 6am curfew.

Ms Nassif had to surrender her passport and report to Burwood police station every day.

Her father, a real estate developer, is one of the people she cannot contact, but there is no indication he is involved in any wrongdoing.

In 2019, Mr. Nassif went viral on social media for gifting his 34-year-old wife Nissering “Nissy”' Nassif with a $480,000 Lamborghini.

Ms. Nassif has not yet entered a plea. The case will return to court this month.
