Girl caught wearing clothes stolen by owner

In a surprising turn of events at Guqukani village in Mphoeng, an 18-year-old girl was arrested while wearing clothes she was allegedly stolen by the owner of the clothes in broad daylight.

Sharon Nyathi was publicly humiliated when Velaphi Ngwazemba, the rightful owner of the sun hat and shoes she was wearing, admitted to having personal belongings on her. Nyathi allegedly stole the items from Ngwazemba's home.

Legal proceeding

Following the incident, Nyathi was arraigned before the Plumtree Magistrate's Court by Ngwazemba, 50. She was charged with breaking into his house and stealing goods worth R910.

Nyathi appeared before Magistrate Mr Joshua Nembaware, who remanded her in custody until July 1.

According to public prosecutor Selestine Madziwa, the robbery took place on May 29. Gwazemba had secured his house in the morning but returned in the afternoon to find the door and windows of his bedroom wide open. Clothes and ZAR 150 in cash were missing.

Gwazemba had no idea who could have committed this act and reported the matter.

Teenager caught wearing stolen clothes

On June 10, Gwazemba spotted Nyathi in the village wearing some of her stolen clothes. When confronted, she confessed to illegally entering her house and stealing the items.

A police report was later filed, leading to Nyathi's arrest.

In another case, a woman recently lost her life after she was killed over clothes that fell off a washing line. Two women got into an argument over clothes that fell off a washing line after doing laundry and had a war of words. The accused later took offence at the exchange of words and confronted the other woman while he was near a borewell, which eventually ended in a knife attack on the other woman.
