Gilbert woman attacked by stranger with knife early Saturday

The Story County Sheriff's Office is investigating an assault early Saturday morning that left a woman stabbed. The attack happened shortly before 5 a.m. Saturday. The victim told authorities that an unknown person repeatedly knocked on her window at her home near Gilbert High School. When she came out to confront him, the man attacked her with a knife. Authorities say the man was wearing a red checkered ski mask and is described as heavyset and 5 feet 10 inches tall. He fled the scene on foot.
