General Hospital actor Johnny Wactor was shot and killed in Los Angeles during an alleged robbery gone wrong. Her mother, Scarlett, paid tribute to the star in a heartbreaking statement

American soap opera actor Johnny Wactor was shot dead at the age of 37 in a tragic carjacking gone wrong in downtown Los Angeles, his mother left distraught.

The rising star – who appeared in US TV series General Hospital – allegedly saw three men attempt to steal his catalytic converter alongside a colleague early on Saturday morning. Wactor's mother Scarlett said he took no steps to confront the robbers, but tragically they allegedly shot him dead before fleeing the scene. Local emergency services were quickly alerted and arrived on scene shortly after 3am.




Although he was rushed to hospital, Johnny unfortunately did not survive. Although authorities have not yet released a description of the suspects, Scarlett expressed hope that they would be captured quickly.

She paid a moving tribute to her late son, describing him as a “loving young man”. His unexpected death left a “huge hole in the family’s heart,” she said, according to the Mirror US. He leaves behind his mother and two younger brothers, Lance and Grant.

The news of Johnny's untimely passing left fans heartbroken, with many expressing their condolences on X. One fan described the incident as “senseless and horrible”, while another commented: “Just tragic.” RIP, Johnny,” and another wrote: “This is horrible. Condolences to his family.

Another lamented: “Too much violence in the world. Rest in peace, handsome.” Johnny first made a name for himself in the acting world in 2007, landing a role on the popular Lifetime series Army Wives. His career took off from there, with appearances on shows like NCIS, Westworld, The OA and Criminal Minds.
