GBI: Man arrested for forcing two minors to drink alcohol

The GBI says the Macon County man was charged with child cruelty, reckless driving and providing alcohol to a person under 21 years old.

MACON COUNTY, Ga. — A 32-year-old Macon County man was arrested after the GBI found he forced two minor girls to “drink alcohol until they got sick,” according to a press release from the GBI.

They say Edvardo Johnson of Oglethorpe was arrested on three separate charges: child cruelty, reckless driving and providing alcohol to a person under 21 years old.

The press release states that the Montezuma Police Department and the Macon County Sheriff's Office requested the GBI to assist in the investigation on May 6.

They claim the two minors told their parents that Johnson allegedly forced them to “drink alcohol until they got sick.”

After a forensic interview, Johnson was booked into the Sumter County Jail, the news release states. They hold inmates for Macon County.

Johnson faces two counts of child cruelty, two counts of reckless driving and two counts of furnishing alcohol to a person under 21 years old.

The GBI says the investigation is ongoing.
