Gastonia woman charged after allegedly stabbing puppy and throwing knife at boyfriend.

GASTONIA, NC (WBTV) – A woman has been charged with allegedly throwing a knife at her boyfriend, stabbing his dog and trying to assault the man's mother, according to News Officer Bill McGinty public of the Gastonia Police Department.

According to a police report, the incident happened Sunday, June 2, at a home in the 1600 block of West Fifth Avenue in Gastonia.

The report says the suspect chased her boyfriend with a knife, threw the knife at him and then stabbed the man's dog. The report states the suspect also attempted to assault the man's mother and broke two windows of the mother's home.

According to the report, the dog that was stabbed was a two-month-old German Shepherd puppy. The report says the puppy was stabbed in the back.

McGinty said the dog is named Clementine and is believed to have survived the alleged stabbing.

McGinty identified the suspect as 22-year-old Leslie Hernandez-Paredes. Hernandez-Paredes was charged with animal cruelty and misdemeanor assault with a deadly weapon. According to jail records, she was booked into the Gaston County Jail on Sunday, June 9.

Hernandez-Paredes is scheduled to appear in court Monday afternoon, according to jail records.
