On Friday, June 14, the Town of Bryson Police Department updated its missing persons Facebook post regarding Wayt to confirm that he “has been located.” No further updates were provided and the case was closed.

The Bryson City Police Department confirmed via Facebook on Tuesday, June 11 that Wayt, 39, was last seen two days earlier in Bryson City, North Carolina.

“[Amber] tried to locate him and went to the police,” a source said. Us every week at the time. “She doesn’t know where he is. She has not heard from him and he has not communicated with her or her family.

The couple was visiting North Carolina for a family wedding in the area. “They were spending several days in the Smoky Mountains,” a source revealed. “On Sunday June 9, they had a conversation which became emotional. Gary left in the car without her and in doing so left his cell phone behind.

The source added that Portwood, 34, has been “beside herself and worried about him” since their conversation.

“He should have been home by now if he was driving [back] the Indiana house. It doesn't appear he went to their house in Indiana,” the source said. “Amber is upset. She has friends helping her locate him.

A few days before Wayt's disappearance, We broke the news that he and Portwood were engaged, with a source saying We the proposal happened “within the last couple of weeks” and she was “really, really happy” to take the next step in their relationship.

The insider noted that the couple hoped to avoid future problems by building a solid foundation before their wedding. “They've been going to couples therapy and talking about everything,” the source revealed. “They are very proactive in their relationship and do the work necessary to prevent problems before they start.”

We exclusively reported in January that Portwood and Wayt were seeing each other after meeting on a dating app four months earlier. “They are taking their time getting to know each other, but it’s getting serious,” a close source said at the time.

Unlike Portwood's exes, Wayt had never watched Teen mom before starting a romantic relationship with her, which allowed them to connect in a more organic way.

“All the guys Amber dated before meeting on social media and were fans of the show,” the source continued. “This new man in her life has actually never seen Teen mom so she feels like she can finally date like she always wanted.
