HAMILTON COUNTY, Tenn. (WDEF) – At 3:04 a.m. Sunday, the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office and Dallas Bay Volunteer Fire Department responded to a smoke detector alert at 1942 Light Tower Circle in the Hidden Harbor subdivision.

An HCSO deputy arrived first on scene and found the garage was on fire and it was unclear if anyone was home.

Dallas Bay VFD arrived to confirm the fire with two vehicles in the garage. They ultimately called for mutual aid to obtain additional manpower. Soddy Daisy firefighters responded to the scene.

One group of firefighters worked to put out the fire, while the other group searched the house for possible victims. Fortunately, no one was home.

The cars in the garage both exploded as firefighters worked to put out the blaze.

According to Markus Fritts, head of the Dallas Bay VFD, “we had a risk to circumvent such. A live power line fell in front of the garage. Due to the large amount of gasoline leaking into both vehicles, we had difficulty extinguishing the fire.

The Dallas Bay Fire Department reported the homeowners were out of town. No injuries were reported, but Hamilton County Emergency Services was on scene checking for possible injuries to first responders.

Damage is estimated at more than $100,000.

HCSO is investigating the cause of the fire.
