Funeral, wake and service planned for teenager who died in electric bike accident

HARRISON – Friends and family plan to gather in memory of Mark Anthony Giordano, 13, who died Sunday in an electric bike accident.

Giordano's wake will be held Thursday from 4 to 9 p.m. with visitation at McMahon Funeral Home on Mamaroneck Avenue in White Plains. His funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Gregory Church on Halstead Avenue in Harrison, according to the Harrison HS Wrestling Instagram account.

His wrestling coaches and teammates will honor their fallen comrade with a prayer service Wednesday at 6 p.m. at St. Gregory Church.

The teen lost control of an electric bike atop the fifth-story roof of a public parking garage, MTA police said. He was found on the first floor next to the garage, police said.

“All are welcome to join us in reflecting on the lives we have lost,” according to an Instagram post from Harrison HS Wrestling, which is an account of Harrison’s wrestling boosters.

At about 5:47 p.m. Sunday, Giordano and four others were on the roof of the fifth floor of the Harrison public parking garage, an MTA police statement said. He had lost control of an electric bike and found himself on the ground floor.

Giordano wrestled for Harrison Central High School and qualified for the Section 1 tournament at 215 pounds this season.

Doctors pronounced Giordano dead at White Plains Hospital. The other juveniles were not injured and a preliminary investigation revealed no criminal offenses, according to MTA police.
