Funeral for teen killed in Bartow County crash

ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) – The family of a 15-year-old boy who died in a multi-vehicle crash in Bartow County is saying their final goodbyes.

According to the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT), the accident occurred on I-75 near Red Top Mountain Road around 6:15 p.m. on Sunday, May 19.

Investigators said a Kia pickup truck apparently lost control while traveling northbound. The vehicle reportedly left the road, crossed a grassy median and entered the southbound lanes, colliding with a Chevrolet Tahoe and a Toyota 4Runner. As a result of the collision, the pickup truck and the Toyota 4Runner were struck by a commercial vehicle, and then the Chevrolet Tahoe was struck from behind by a Hyundai SUV.

The incident left four dead and five injured, the Bartow County Sheriff's Office said.

Those killed in the accident have been identified as follows:

  • Mason from Dakaraï, 43 years old
  • Erin Mason, 35 years old
  • Brandon Crawford, 15
  • Aimée Odom, 21 years old

Titus Hezekiah Mason, 6, who was taken to a hospital in critical condition, died Wednesday after being taken off life support, a GoFundMe post created on behalf of his family said.

Funeral services for Brandon Crawford will be held at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church in Cartersville, Georgia. Crawford was a student and football player at Cass High School.

A funeral service was planned for Brandon Crawford, 14, who was a student and football player at Cass High School, at 11 a.m. May 27 at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church in Cartersville, where the family lived.
