Full video view of clip depicting alleged Guam police brutality | Guam News

There's more to the story involving a video that went viral on social media showing a man being kicked and shocked by police during an incident on Thursday.

The clip that went viral lasts about a minute. It depicted Guam Police officers kicking and using a Taser on a shirtless man while repeatedly telling him to “stop resisting.”

The video led the GPD to launch an internal investigation into community concerns related to police brutality.

However, the video is only a snippet of the incident that unfolded, as the full video shows what happened moments before the police arrived.

The full video lasts 2 minutes and 49 seconds and shows another man trying to subdue the suspect on the ground, hooking the suspect's arm and using his weight to keep him on the ground.

In the video, a woman's voice is heard asking the suspect, “Why are you… here?” indicating the suspect may have been trespassing.

The suspect in the video can be heard responding by saying: “I'm here because Jesus is here.” Look up at the sky, look up, Satan is trying to make you look down. Look…Jesus.”

Moments before police intervened in the photo, the suspect had his arm around the neck of the man who was restraining him, the video shows.

GPD Officer Berlyn Savella told the Guam Daily Post on Sunday that she had no details on the investigation and would have to follow up with GPD Chief Stephen Ignacio.

But Savella confirmed that the police chief “did receive video relating to the responding officers. Following this action, an IA investigation was ordered.
