Fritz Allowed to Continue Seeking a Lawyer as He's Accused of Stabbing His Wife 50 Times

Homicide suspect Zachary Fritz has more time to find a defense attorney. Fritz is accused of fatally stabbing his wife more than 50 times at their La Crosse home this month.

On Wednesday, Judge Scott Horne ruled that Fritz was not qualified for a public defender. He will have two additional weeks to find a lawyer.

Fritz appeared in court via video from the county jail, a little more than a week after his wife Ellen died at the family home. His next court hearing is set for July 2.

Fritz was arrested for assault in 2009, in a domestic violence case in La Crosse County. He was found not guilty on three counts of mental illness or deficiency.
