Wild theories about the clubber's disappearance have flooded Facebook and Instagram, all of which have been denied by Jay's family.

It is also claimed that Jay's Instagram was hacked and false information was then shared.

In response, the administrator of the Facebook appeal page called Jay Slater Missing, Rachel Louise Harg, called the trolls “sick heads.”

She wrote: “It's true, I can't believe some people are so sick in the head, there are people hacking my accounts and those of Jay's family, making outright lies and pretending we're all in it together.

“Jays is missing and it’s absolutely soul destroying that we can’t find him.

“His mother is absolutely broken, it's cruel, we know he has been with 2 people or maybe more in the mountains, we can confirm the phone signal, as proven, after that we don't know because here in Spain without proof of all they can” I will not take the matter to court to act accordingly, researching and taking this matter very seriously.

“It's hard work, not just because the language barrier is so bad that we have to have someone with us to speak for us and for us to understand that it's so serious.

“Honestly, the police here are checking the CCTV footage and looking into the leads that have been provided to them as we speak.”

It comes as Lancashire Police said they had offered to support the search for Jay.

A statement released Friday evening said: “First and foremost, our thoughts are with Jay’s family at this time.

“They have to go through the most difficult ordeal without knowing what happened to their loved one.

“We have specialist officers who continue to support Jay’s family.

“While this matter does not fall within the remit of the UK police, we have offered our support to the Guardia Civil to see if they require additional resources.

“They have confirmed that at this time they are happy to have the resources they need, but this offer remains open and they will contact us if this position changes.”

Jay's heartbroken mother previously cried as she pleaded for help to find her beloved son and pleaded: “I just want my baby back.”

Worried mum Debbie said the last few days had been a “living nightmare” as she made a tearful appeal for help.

She told ITN: “It's just a real living nightmare. It's like a dream – it's like it's not happening, it really is. I wouldn't wish this on anyone.

“I just want my baby back. Please, anyone who can help me, look for it. There's a huge area up there, huge.

“It has now been over 48 hours since he had contact with anyone.

“He's out there somewhere, or someone knows where he is. We just need to find my baby.”

Devastated mum Debbie flew to the island earlier this week as rescue teams mounted a frantic, round-the-clock search for Jay.

Jay is believed to be lost in an area of Tenerife that locals call “the badlands”.

Timeline of Jay Slater's disappearance

By Ellie Doughty, Foreign News Reporter

SUNDAY JUNE 16 – MONDAY 17

Jay goes to a rave at the NRG 2024 music festival in Tenerife, around Arona in the south of the island.

8:35 p.m. – Jay posts a smiling video on Snapchat of himself laughing with friends.

He leaves the rave with two men he met that day and is driven back to their accommodation on the other side of the island.

MONDAY 17

7:30am – Jay posts a Snapchat of a hand holding a cigarette in the area where the accommodation was located – near Teno Rural Park in the north of the island.

8:30 a.m. – Jay calls his friend Lucy Law and tells her he missed a bus, had 1% battery left on his phone, and was stuck in the “middle of nowhere.”

9:00 a.m. – A missing person's report is filed and the search for Jay begins.

TUESDAY 18

2 a.m. – Police knock on the door of Jay's mother, Debbie Duncan's, home and tell her to take the first flight to Tenerife.

7:00am – She flies out of Manchester Airport alongside her son Zak to help with the search.

Debbie receives a Snapchat message saying “Say goodbye to your boy, you'll never see him again, he owes me a lot of money.”

WEDNESDAY 19

12:30 p.m. – Police briefly move the search to the south of the island after a false sighting.

Cops search his hotel room for clues as his mother says there was “nothing untoward there”.

Debbie gives a heartbreaking interview in which she shares her fears that he has been “taken” and says “I just want my baby back”.

THURSDAY 20

The cops begin the fourth day of the massive search for Jay.

The five-day search for the 19-year-old has now focused on a 2,000-foot-deep ravine in a remote desert-like park.

Helicopters have been seen hovering above, while firefighters, volunteers and police navigate the perilous, cactus-studded terrain below.

Jonathan Stones, who moved to Tenerife more than two decades ago when he was 13, said the Teno nature reserve was one of the most inhospitable places on the island.

He told The Sun: “Where Jay was last located by his mobile phone is where he has the least chance of survival.

“The desolate landscapes around the island's vacation spots are called 'malpais' by locals – a word that translates into English as 'bad land'.”

The 50-year-old former journalist warned that the scorching heat could be deceptive, with comfortable morning temperatures turning to scorching temperatures by 11am.

He added: “With no shade in sight, no water within reach and a deep ravine, the sun becomes an even fiercer adversary.

“And the dark respite that the hilltops offer is short-lived.

“The sun moves quickly across the sides of the mountains and anyone sheltering behind one craggy outcropping is quickly chased from their hiding place in search of the next one.

“I desperately hope this mystery is solved in time for Jay to be safely reunited with his family.”
