Fremont store security guard killed on the job identified

FREMONT, Calif. (KRON) — A Fremont store security guard who was shot inside a CVS store was identified Wednesday. The Alameda County Sheriff's Office identified the victim as Abakr Amin, 41, of Sacramento.

On June 13 around 11 p.m., several people called 911 to report a shooting at a CVS store in the Fremont Hub mall, police said. Witnesses said the security guard got into a “verbal altercation” with someone before the confrontation turned violent, according to the Fremont Police Department.


Amin was shot and another person was stabbed multiple times, the FPD said. Amin died instantly, while the stabbed man was rushed to a local trauma center.

So far, police have not released further details about what happened inside the store. It is unclear whether any arrests have been made.

On Wednesday, police Sgt. Kim Macdonald told KRON4, “Due to the active and ongoing investigation, we cannot provide any additional details. »
