Free youth gardening program at Trackside Teen Center

Calling all teenagers with green thumbs!! The free Green Teens Youth Gardening ProgramSummer session begins Monday June 24Since 9am-11am has Trackside Teen Center. All growing middle and high school students are welcome. No gardening experience is necessary, just an interest in nature and helping others, as the program is rooted (no pun intended!) in community service. The program will take place at Trackside every Monday throughout the summer until August 19. Registrations are welcome at any time and registrations are ongoing.

An initiative of Wilton Garden Club (WGC) and Trackside Teen Center, Green Teens is run by experienced WGC gardeners. Its participants participate in hands-on activities such as designing flower beds, planting, tending and harvesting, as well as learning to cook with produce grown in their gardens. They also hear occasional speakers and do creative garden art projects. During last year's growing season, Green Teens donated 232 pounds of fresh, organic produce to the Wilton Pantry and 100 floral arrangements Wilton Senior Center And Wilton Commonsall coming from the gardens they tended.

“Our hope with Green Teens is to involve more youth in creating and maintaining vegetable gardens, teaching them the importance of healthy foods and giving back to the community,” said the youth gardening committee co-chair of the WGC. Laurie Musilli said. “There is something in this program for everyone.”

To register, visit the Trackside Teen Center website or contact Musilli by email.
