Franci Antonio Paz Madrid dies at Woodward Reservoir near Modesto

OAKDALE, Calif. — A missing swimmer found dead Sunday at Woodward Reservoir has been identified.

The sheriff's office said the first call came in around 2 p.m. Sunday for a swimmer in distress near Mountain View Point. The 21-year-old was swimming with a friend across the English Channel when he began to struggle, went underwater and did not come up.

The search lasted almost six hours and Paz Madrid was found dead.
