Foxborough man arrested on gun charges at Roxbury party

A Foxborough man was arrested Saturday night after Boston police went to break up a large, disorderly party in Roxbury and allegedly found him in possession of a gun and about a half-ounce of crack cocaine, they said. the police.

Joshua Carvahlo, 25, faces multiple charges including carrying a loaded firearm without a license, defacing a firearm's serial number and possession with intent to distribute class B drugs, according to a statement from the Boston Police Department. It is unclear whether Carvahlo has retained an attorney to represent him. He is expected to be arraigned in the Roxbury Division of Boston Municipal Court.

Around 11:15 p.m., police responded to a report of more than 30 people fighting near 60 Annunciation Road in Roxbury, according to the release. When officers arrived, they found a large gathering of people drinking and congregating in the area, disturbing neighbors, police said.

At the scene, officers saw Carvahlo leave the group and walk behind a parked vehicle, according to the release. Police reportedly observed Carvahlo ducking under the vehicle before quickly getting up and rejoining the group. Officers inspected the car and found a firearm with a loaded ammunition magazine and a destroyed serial number hidden in a sock, according to the release.

Police arrested Carvahlo at the scene and transported him to police headquarters for incarceration. During the booking process, officers also discovered Carvahlo was in possession of a baggie containing a “white rock-like substance believed to be crack cocaine” that weighed approximately 14 grams, according to the release. The armed officers seized were a black Ruger LCP .380 automatic with a metal feeding device, which contained six rounds of ammunition, police said.
