Clinton Township police are investigating after an early morning shooting left a father dead Thursday in the parking lot of the Peachtree apartment complex, according to police and social media reports.

On Thursday night, city police confirmed the killing and said investigators were investigating. It was not immediately clear whether any arrests had been made.

The incident happened around 1 a.m. when police were dispatched to the complex of Weybridge Street and Little Mack Avenue, in the area of ​​16 Mile Road and Groesbeck Highway, for multiple calls of a man suffering from gunshot wounds.

When police arrived, they found the man in the street with a gunshot wound to the head and numerous shell casings in the area.

Friends on social media identified the victim as Jaret Mays, a father of several who previously worked at Beaumont Hospital and ran his own business. One report said the man was “ambushed.”
