Fourth arrest made in brazen Winter Springs carjacking and drug bust

SPRING WINTER, Florida. – New details have been released in the case of a fatal carjacking in Winter Springs, including the arrest of a fourth person.

Federal prosecutors released new documents Thursday identifying Derek Alexis Rodriguez Bonilla, who provided the gun that was used to kill Katherine Aguasvivas and a tow truck driver in the Taft neighborhood of Orange County the night before pick up.

On April 11, prosecutors say Katherine Aguasvivas left her home in Homestead and drove to Seminole County, where she met Giovany Crespo Hernandez at his home in Casselberry. Crespo Hernández was involved in a central Florida drug ring, and Aguasvivas was there to collect $170,000 in drug money from him.

However, prosecutors said Crespo Hernandez conspired with Jordanian Torres-Garcia and Kevin Ocasio Justiniano to rob and embezzle Aguasvivas after she collected the money.

After leaving Crespo Hernández's home, Aguasvivas called her husband and told him that someone had bugged her vehicle while she was driving.

A witness captured video of Torres-Garcia – wearing a ski mask – getting out of a green Acura and pointing a rifle at Aguasvivas at the intersection of East Lake Drive and Tuskawilla Road near Winter Springs, deputies said.

Newly released photos also show the green Acura and white Dodge Durango driving on State Route 417 from Winter Springs to Osceola County.

The Durango was found severely damaged by a fire later that evening at the Osceola County construction site.

While Aguasvivas was being held at gunpoint, prosecutors said Torres-Garcia and Justiniano poured lighter fluid on Aguasvivas' body and fired several shots at the Durango before it does not catch fire inside the passenger seat of the vehicle.

Prosecutors say surveillance video shows Torres-Garcia and Ocasio Justiniano buying lighter fluid at a gas station hours before the carjacking.

The report also states that the green Acura was parked outside the home of the tow truck driver – Juan Garcia – in Taft the night before the carjacking.

Two gunmen – one of whom was positively identified as Torres-Garcia – got out of the Acura and shot Juan Garcia, causing his death. After the shooting, one of the shooters walked toward Garcia's truck and grabbed something from the back.

Torres-Garcia, Ocasio Justiniano, Crespo Hernandez and Rodriguez Bonilla were charged with the coordinated carjacking, kidnapping and firearms use that resulted in the death of Katherine Aguasvivas.

If convicted on all counts, U.S. Attorney Roger Handberg said they all face a mandatory minimum sentence of life in prison or the death penalty.
