Four injured in South Los Angeles motel fire

Firefighters rescued at least four victims from a fire at a South Los Angeles motel, the Los Angeles Fire Department reported.

“I looked and there was smoke everywhere,” a witness said. “There were police and helicopters. It's madness here. »

The fire broke out around 8 p.m. Thursday at a two-story garden-style motel in the 10900 block of South Broadway, with the fire burning on both floors. During an offensive attack on the largest alarm fire, LAFD found four people with smoke inhalation and burn injuries.

“LAFD firefighters assisted in the evacuation and medical treatment of four civilians,” LAFD spokesman Brian Humphrey said in a statement.

He added that the four people were identified as a woman and a man in their thirties, as well as two teenage girls.

The woman and two girls were injured by smoke inhalation, while the man was also injured by smoke inhalation and suffered burns to his body.

All victims were transported to hospital in fair condition.

The fire was brought under control around 8:20 p.m., firefighters added. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
