Police have arrested a man suspected in connection with the killings of four girls at AMC Braintree 10 and two adults at a McDonald's in Plymouth, authorities said yesterday.

Around 6 p.m., a man entered a movie theater after walking past the ticket window without paying, police reported. He then encountered four girls aged between 9 and 17 and, without any warning, attacked and stabbed them.

The man, whose identity has not yet been released by police, then ran from the theater and fled in a black SUV. Braintree police and detectives traced the man's movements after reviewing surveillance footage. Police also viewed footage which provided them with a license plate of the fleeing car.

A vehicle matching a description sent by police was allegedly involved in another stabbing at the McDonalds at the Route 3 Park and Ride in Plymouth, according to the Massachusetts State Police Department. State troopers responded to the scene around 7:04 p.m. Saturday, where they found a 21-year-old woman and a 29-year-old man with apparent stab wounds.

State troopers then followed the SUV to Sandwich and attempted to stop it, but the driver continued driving before crashing and ultimately being arrested by state police and the local police, officials reported.

The Braintree girls suffered non-life-threatening injuries and were all transported to Boston hospitals for further treatment. The two men in Plymouth also suffered non-life-threatening injuries and were transported to local hospitals for treatment.

Police said the investigation remains ongoing by local and state law enforcement.
