Fort Fairfield police arrest two people for alleged drug possession and trafficking

FORT FAIRFIELD, Maine – Two Aroostook residents were arrested Sunday in Fort Fairfield for allegedly trafficking illegal drugs.

Shawn Dufour, 37, of Caswell, was driving on White Hill Street around 12:10 a.m. when officers suspected he was driving under the influence.

Officers arrested Dufour and his passenger, Macenzie Charette, 31, of Fort Fairfield, and seized 13.61 grams of fentanyl and 2.8 grams of methamphetamine along with an undisclosed amount of cash, the chief said Matthew Cummings.

Dufour now faces Class A charges for driving under the influence of drugs and aggravated trafficking in Schedule W drugs, as well as a Class C charge for unlawful possession of Schedule W drugs.

Charrette was charged with Aggravated Trafficking in Schedule W Drugs, a Class A Felony, and Unlawful Possession of Schedule W Drugs, a Class C Felony. She was also arrested on a warrant unrelated and placed on probation.

Dufour and Charrette are being held at the Aroostook County Jail and will appear in court on Monday, June 10.
