Former NFL player's missing son found safe, both parents in custody

The 14-year-old son of former NFL player Daniel Muir, who went missing more than two weeks ago, has been found alive and well.

Bryson Muir went missing on Father's Day after “allegations of domestic violence” were made against him, according to a previous press release from the Indiana State Police.

Bryson was found July 3 after police searched his parents' home in Logansport, Indiana, and located the teen and his parents, Indiana State Police said.

Police said Bryson “appeared to be safe and sound.” Both of his parents, Daniel and Kristin Muir, were taken into custody in connection with the case.

Daniel, 40, is charged with obstruction of justice and domestic violence. Kristin, 38, is charged with obstruction of justice.

Investigators previously visited the home and spoke with Daniel, a former NFL defensive end, and Kristin about the teen's whereabouts. At first, they showed “signs of cooperation,” according to state police, and agreed to bring Bryson to meet with investigators on Friday, June 28. However, the couple reportedly “backed out of that arrangement, which signals an unwillingness to cooperate,” according to state police.

While Bryson was missing, the Indiana State Police issued a Silver Alert for him. The alert stated that Bryson “is considered to be in extreme danger and may require medical assistance.”

The alert included two photos of Bryson. One of them showed him with a swollen eye.

It is unclear whether Daniel and Kristin have hired attorneys to speak on their behalf. Bryson is currently in the custody of the Cass County Department of Child Services.
