Former NFL player's 14-year-old son hasn't been seen in two weeks

(NewsNation) — The son of former NFL player Daniel Muir is currently missing following allegations of domestic violence, according to Indiana State Police (ISP).

Authorities say 14-year-old Bryson Muir has not been seen since June 16, after he left a relative's residence with his mother in Ohio. The car driven by Bryson's mother, Kristen Muir, was stopped minutes later, but there was no sign of Bryson.

A statewide Silver Alert has been issued in the search for the boy, who police believe is in “extreme danger.”

“It was only a few minutes, it wasn't a very long period of time,” ISP Capt. Ron Galaviz told FOX59. “But during that period of time, Bryson could not be found. We don't know where he went.”

As for what happened, Bryson's grandmother, Cheryl Wright, received an explanation from police.

“Officers believe he was likely transferred to another car,” Wright told FOX59.

In Saturday's news release, police said they were able to make contact with Bryson's parents despite their initial lack of cooperation, but have not yet been able to locate the missing teen.

A meeting between investigators, Bryson and his parents was scheduled for noon Friday, before the Muirs “withdrew,” authorities said.

“While the Muirs are beginning to show signs of cooperation, Bryson has yet to be seen or located by ISP or DCS investigators,” the statement read.

Police have released two photos of Bryson Muir, one of which shows a black right eye. The local Department of Children's Services (DCS) has asked the ISP to investigate allegations of domestic violence against Bryson “on or about June 18,” two days after he went missing.

Wright also accused Daniel Muir of beating her son, adding that it was at her home in Garfield Heights, Ohio, where the 14-year-old was last seen.

She told WTHR her grandson had a swollen face, a black eye and a greasy lip.

“He just said his dad did it… but he wasn’t mad at his dad,” Wright told the outlet.

“He told me he deserved it and it was okay,” Wright said. “So I told him it wasn’t and no one should beat their kids like that, not if they love them.”

The Muirs' car and Logansport home are owned by the religious group Servant Leader's Foundation – according to FOX59.

Bryson Muir, of Logansport, Indiana, is described as 6'2″ and 185 pounds. He has black hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing an orange Under Armour T-shirt and blue jeans.

Police are asking anyone with information about Bryson Muir's whereabouts to call 911 or 800-382-0689.
