Investigators learned in April that the alleged victim was in therapy and revealed during a session that Tamayo, her high school teacher, had groomed her when she was between 15 and 16 years old.

The alleged victim said the preparation began while Tamayo was responsible for organizing a school trip to Italy, when he befriended the victim and began talking to her after school, according to the mandate.

She said he was inappropriate with her several times at school and attempted to rape her there, according to the warrant.

Tamayo allegedly sent her inappropriate text messages and began touching her inappropriately while they were going on a school trip to Italy, according to the warrant.

The acts continued when they returned to Miami, with him touching her inappropriately while they were alone in her classroom, according to the warrant.

At one point, Tamayo managed to convince her to meet him at a hotel, where he performed a sex act on her, according to the warrant.

The alleged victim said she stopped talking to him once she found a boyfriend.

A records check showed Tamayo was accused in another lewd and lascivious incident with another alleged victim, according to the warrant.

In court Friday, it was revealed that Tamayo was arrested in Virginia, where he currently lives, and extradited to Miami-Dade.

Tamayo's defense attorney asked the judge to set bail, noting that Tamayo had no criminal history, but the judge ordered him held without bail.
