Former Horseheads administrator sentenced in Yates County drunk driving crash

A former Horseheads village trustee has been sentenced in Yates County Court for a drunken driving crash that injured several people. Mark Cronin was sentenced to six months in jail, five years of probation, a $1,000 fine and a one-year license suspension, according to the Yates County Prosecutor's Office.

Cronin pleaded guilty to assault and DWI in April. The charges stem from an incident on July 4, 2023, in which Cronin, driving under the influence, ran a stop sign and struck a vehicle carrying two adults and six children, seriously injuring five of them.

As a result of the indictment, Cronin was removed as a director. In addition to his sentence, he must report to a victim impact panel, an impaired driver program, install an ignition interlock device and provide a DNA sample.
