Former Georgetown County Sheriff's Office investigator charged with assault in Horry County

MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) – A former investigator with the Georgetown County Sheriff’s Office is now facing charges after an alleged assault in Horry County.

The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division said Everest Henry Carrison II, 40, was charged Tuesday with one count of first-degree assault and battery.

Warrants provided by SLED indicate the charge was related to an incident that occurred after the sheriff's office's annual polar dive on Feb. 3. Documents state Carrison and the victim were both drinking when Carrison offered to drive them to Horry County due to their level of intoxication.

Carrison escorted the victim to a room and allegedly stayed there for more than an hour. The warrant says Carrison “injured the victim with lewd and lascivious intent” by rubbing her above and below her clothing. The location where Carrison allegedly rubbed the victim is redacted in the warrant.

The warrant cites a victim's statement and video surveillance footage as evidence in SLED's investigation. SLED also said Georgetown County Sheriff Carter Weaver requested the agency's help on Feb. 5 to “investigate allegations of criminal sexual conduct involving off-duty personnel.”

According to SLED, Carrison was booked into the J. Reuben Long Detention Center on Tuesday. WMBF News requested a photo.

A spokesperson for the Georgetown County Sheriff's Office directed WMBF News to SLED for more information on the case. WMBF News also requested more information about Carrison's law enforcement history at the South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy.
