Former Detroit Lions TE arrested after convenience store incident

Former Detroit Lions tight end Brandon Pettigrew found himself in legal trouble Sunday after an alleged incident at a convenience store in Texas.

According to police, via TMZ, Pettigrew became aggressive during an argument with authorities at a Dallas 7-Eleven at 2 a.m. Sunday before allegedly throwing a punch at the front door that broke the window. It's unclear what exactly sparked the argument.

Authorities removed the Tasers on the former NFL tight end, but did not use them, according to the report. He was arrested without further incident and charged with criminal mischief. The 39-year-old man was released around 1 p.m. the same day.

This is the third time Pettigrew has been arrested, according to TMZ. In 2017, he was arrested for his alleged role in a bar disturbance, and in 2018, he was arrested for allegedly punching a police officer.

A former first-round draft pick of the Lions in 2009, Pettigrew spent seven seasons with the franchise, accumulating 301 receptions for 2,965 yards and 17 touchdowns. He last played a snap in 2015.

Prior to his time with the Lions in the NFL, Pettigrew played his college ball at Oklahoma State, where he finished his college career with 112 catches for 1,450 receiving yards and nine touchdowns.
