Court appearances will take place next week for one of two people arrested after a series of police chases in Emporia earlier this week.

Frederick Beecher Hogue, 37, of Hollister, Missouri, faces four counts in total: two counts of fleeing and eluding, one count of obstructing law enforcement and one count of driving with a suspended license. Hogue is also separately charged with being a fugitive from Jasper County, Missouri, for alleged possession of a controlled substance and resisting arrest.

Hogue's first court appearance in both cases will be at 1:15 p.m. Monday in downtown Emporia.

According to Lyon County officials, Hogue was the driver in both pursuits that occurred before sunrise Tuesday. No charges have been filed against the alleged passenger, Sara Rogers, 36, of Granby, Missouri.

The alleged activity that led to Hogue and Rogers' arrest began with an attempted traffic stop for an allegedly stolen SUV at Sixth and Prairie and led to a short chase through town, with Hogue allegedly driving over 100 mph at one point. The second chase developed after authorities noticed the same vehicle on Interstate 35 near the eastern city limits of Emporia. Authorities pursued the vehicle into Franklin County. The chase ended near Ottawa and Hogue and Rogers were arrested.
