Forest Lawn stabbing victim identified: Calgary police

Police have identified the victim of Calgary's eighth murder, which occurred Thursday in southeast Forest Lawn.

The chief medical examiner confirmed that the victim was Dean Visser, a 16-year-old Calgarian.

It comes like Calgary police charge 17-year-old Saturday for first-degree murder.

“This tragic incident did not need to happen. My condolences go out to the victim’s family,” S Sgt. Sean Gregson said in a press release.

“The impact of an incident like this has a ripple effect within the community. I sympathize with the family and friends who have been shaken by this tragic loss.

The police say that the incident occurred on 41 Street SE on June 7, with police saying they received reports of a fight involving a weapon around 7 p.m.

The teenager died in hospital after being found injured.
