Foreign casino workers arrested for drug trafficking

Two foreign nationals were arrested for trafficking “crystal meth”.

The arrests were made after the Poipet Municipal Gendarmerie, led by Brigadier General Nuon Ninaro, local commander of the Municipal Gendarmerie, cracked down on drug trafficking and illegal use in a building in the village of Palilei 2, in Poipet Sangkat. Poipet city, Banteay Meanchey province, June 13, 2024.

2 men were arrested and named as Thy Phat Ramana, alias Bass, 27 years old, Thai, occupation: casino employee and anonymous accomplice – also casino employee.

The force seized 2 sachets of white crystalline powder weighing 1.45 grams and 10 sachets of red pills

Colonel Nuon Ninaro said that before the crackdown, the municipal gendarmerie received reports of drug trafficking and illegal use in the building.

Immediately after receiving the information, he led law enforcement to the scene and arrested the two suspects.

After being arrested and questioned, the suspects confessed to buying, selling and using drugs.

Based on the confessions and evidence, the local municipal gendarmerie force compiled a file and forwarded it to the provincial gendarmerie command for further processing.
