Food delivery driver fatally shot in Opa-lock identified as police search for shooter – NBC 6 South Florida

A delivery driver who was shot and killed while dropping off food at an Opa-locka building over the weekend has been identified as investigators work to determine who shot him.

Police said Alejandro Linares, 40, was delivering food to the Mirage at Sailboat Cove apartment complex on Northwest 142nd Street on Saturday when the shooting occurred.

Linares had gotten out of his car when someone confronted him and shot him, police said. It appears to be an attempted armed robbery.

A neighbor told NBC6 she heard two gunshots, then went outside and saw the woman who ordered the food performing CPR on Linares, who was shot in the chest.

He was eventually transported to a local hospital but did not survive.

“She said she ordered food and when the guy called her to say 'I'm downstairs,' but from the car to the house they shot him,” the neighbor said, who only wanted to give her first name, Jessy. . “She was doing CPR but it didn't work. After that the police came and the ambulance and they tried to shock him but he was already dead.”

Police were seen entering and exiting the complex Monday as they continued their investigation.

One person was detained for questioning but no arrests have been made.

NBC6 is still investigating which company Linares worked for.
