Florida teens arrested for 'exceptionally dangerous' TikTok challenge

Two teenagers in Florida were arrested for participating in a challenge they saw on TikTok. The Hernando County Sheriff's Office said the teens, both 15, face numerous charges related to the dare, which involves breaking down doors in the middle of the night.

Authorities said they received four reports in the past two weeks from homeowners saying their doors were damaged in the middle of the night by people kicking them.

The teens' actions were captured by the homeowners' doorbell cameras.

Police found the teens, who lived within walking distance of the homes, and took them into custody. They were each charged with four counts of burglary of a habitation.

Authorities have warned of the dangers of the challenge, including the possibility of being shot by a surprised homeowner.

“This situation was exceptionally dangerous on many levels,” the sheriff said. Al Nienhuis. “First, there was a very good chance that these young men could have been shot and killed by a homeowner legally defending the home. Second, if that had happened, the homeowner would have been burdened by the fact that he or she killed two teenagers who were participating in a stupid activity.
