Florida: Teenager murdered during sleepover

WILDWOOD, Fla. (WJW) – Florida Sheriff's Department is investigating a murder that occurred at a teenager's sleepover.

According to a press release, the Sumter County Sheriff's Office responded to a home in reference to a stabbing around 10 p.m. on June 1.

Deputies say two people in the home were stabbed, a teenager and an adult.

The teenage victim, identified as Connor Gill, 15, died at the hospital.

According to the sheriff's office, Gill was having a sleepover at his home when another teen “knocked” on the door.

After Gill let the suspect in, police say he stabbed Gill, threatened a third victim and stabbed the adult who came to see what was happening.

The teenage suspect fled on foot, deputies said.

He was arrested shortly afterward, after the sheriff's office found him with the helicopter.

The 16-year-old suspect faces several charges, including premeditated first-degree murder. He is not identified because he is a minor.

The sheriff's office is investigating a motive.

The adult victim was taken to hospital for treatment.
