FLINT, MI ā€“ The man who fatally shot Christopher ā€œCJā€ Otto in April 2023 will serve at least 27 years in prison after being sentenced in Genesee County Circuit Court.

Judge Mark W. Latchana sentenced Nicholas Hetzer, 37, Monday, June 10, to 25 to 50 years in prison for second-degree murder.

He also sentenced Hetzer to 2 to 5 years in prison for carrying a concealed weapon and a mandatory consecutive two-year prison term for the felony firearm charge.

The sentence came after Hetzer in May pleaded no contest to the charges. The second-degree murder charge was reduced from open murder.

Hetzer was accused of killing Otto and leaving his body outside a Flint apartment complex on April 3, 2023.

Prosecutors previously alleged that Hetzer shot and killed Otto during an argument they had while driving in Flint Township.

After the shooting, Hetzer dumped Otto's body outside the Coolidge Park Apartments in Flint.
