Five teens arrested for disruptive behavior near Riverfront Park

Riverfront Park Rangers gave patrol officers information and descriptions about the teens, who then found and detained them.

SPOKANE, Wash. — Five teenagers were arrested after confronting security officers and vandalizing property near Riverfront Park early Monday morning.

According to the Spokane Police Department, officers responded to reports of a person with a weapon on North River Drive near North Washington Street in Spokane. When officers arrived, they learned that two security guards had seen a group of teenagers destroying property around Washington Street, between Spokane Falls Boulevard and North River Drive.

Officers learned the teens allegedly approached one of the workers, pulled out a gun and threatened the worker, who returned to his safety truck. Police said the teens surrounded the truck, yelling at workers and hitting the truck.

Riverfront Park Rangers gave patrol officers information and descriptions about the teens, who then found and detained them.

The weapon was recovered and determined to be a realistic airsoft gun, according to SPD.

Police developed probable cause to arrest the teens and charge them with stalking and criminal rioting. Additional charges were filed against some of the teens involved, including stalking with a weapon, minor in possession of alcohol and second-degree malicious mischief.

Police said Cordell J. Walker, 19, and Timothy J. Goodman, 18, were booked into the Spokane County Jail. The three other teens involved were booked into the Spokane County Juvenile Detention Center.
