Five teenagers arrested after accosting two security guards in Spokane | Local

SPOKANE – Shortly after 2 a.m. today, June 10, 2024, Spokane Police responded to a call of a person with a weapon in the 300 block of W. North River Drive. When they arrived, they learned that two security guards from an area business had observed a group of men destroying property around Washington Street between Spokane Falls Blvd. and North River Dr. Officers further learned that the teens approached one of the workers, pulled out a gun and threatened the worker, who then returned to his safety truck. The teenagers walked around the truck, which the two workers were in, and began shouting at them, being disorderly and hitting the truck. The workers were able to call 911 and get away from the group.

Patrol officers obtained information and descriptions about the teens and, with the assistance of Riverfront Park Park Rangers, quickly located the group and arrested them. Officers were able to determine probable cause to arrest all five men and, given the unprovoked nature and aggressive manner of the attack on the workers and their vehicle, as well as the brandishing of a firearm, each was charged with criminal harassment. . The weapon was located on one of the teenagers and was found to be a realistic airsoft gun.

Additionally, due to the reckless nature of the individuals as a group and the damage caused to property, including porta-potties, fences, and traffic/construction cones, all were charged with felony rioting. Additional charges for some teens include Stalking with a Weapon Involved, Minor in Possession/Alcohol, and 2nd Degree Malicious Mischief.

Two adults were booked into the Spokane County Jail. They are Cordell J. Walker (19 years old) and Timothy J. Goodman (18 years old). The three other teens involved are juveniles and were booked into the Spokane County Juvenile Detention Center.
