Five people arrested on drug charges following Cromwell investigation

Of those arrested, two out of five face charges of operating a drug factory, police said.

CROMWELL, Conn. — Five people were arrested on drug charges after an investigation at a Cromwell hotel, city police said Monday. Two of the five people are accused of operating a drug manufacturing plant.

According to police, on May 24, the Cromwell Police Department Detective Bureau, Middletown Street Crimes Unit and Capital Region Emergency Services Team investigated the Super Hotel 8 from Cromwell pursuant to a search and seizure warrant.

The investigation led to the seizure of a “significant quantity of illegal controlled substances,” according to police.

Five people, including Frank Zaler, 42, Kelly Christoni, 39, Gregory Carlson, 38, Carolyn Chambers, 36, and Patricia Porter, 34, face charges of obstructing a search warrant, use of drug paraphernalia and possession of a controlled substance.

Zaler and Christoni also face charges of two counts of operating a drug factory and possession with intent to sell, police said.

Zaler also faces a charge of tampering with evidence.
