Five people arrested for alleged kidnapping

THE DEADLY FORCE. NEW THIS MORNING, MARYLAND STATE POLICE MADE MULTIPLE ARRESTS IN CONNECTION WITH AN ALLEGED KIDNING AND ASSAULT IN CARROLL COUNTY. AND DURING THE INVESTIGATION, MARYLAND STATE POLICE FOUND THE MALE VICTIM IN A DISABLED VEHICLE TONIGHT IN A RESTAURANT PARKING LOT IN WESTMINSTER THEN TAKEN TO THE HOSPITAL WITH INJURIES. Maryland State Police arrest five people in suspected kidnapping in Carroll County

Maryland State Police have arrested five people in connection with an alleged kidnapping and assault in Carroll County. Maryland State Police said troopers were called to a residence in Westminster for a reported kidnapping on May 21. Officials said the victims, an unidentified man and woman, were reported missing by the woman's mother. The victim, a man, was discovered May 21 in a disabled vehicle in the parking lot of a restaurant in Westminster, where he received medical treatment for his injuries. The female victim was found unharmed the next morning in another parking lot. The suspects, all from Westminster, were identified as Dequan Tyheem Gaines, Brian Scott Johnson, Jordan Gabrielle Riley, Marc Anthony Rivera and Sylena Marie Rivera. Gaines, Riley and Marc Rivera face charges including kidnapping, second-degree assault, false imprisonment and extortion. Johnson and Sylena Rivera are accused of kidnapping, false imprisonment and extortion. Police confirmed all five suspects are being held without bail at the Carroll County Detention Center.
