Five England fans arrested during Slovenia's Euro 2024 draw

Five England fans were arrested at Cologne's RheinEnergieStadion on Tuesday ahead of their team's goalless draw against Slovenia.

Two fans were arrested for assault, two for trying to enter the stadium without a ticket and one for criminal damage.

The United Kingdom Football Police Unit (UKFPU) confirmed the arrests in a statement on Wednesday, adding that the majority of the approximately 15,000 England fans in Cologne were “extremely well behaved and no disorder was involved.” reported”.

Eight England fans were arrested in Frankfurt following their 1-1 draw with Denmark last week, while another was arrested before the opening European Championship match against Serbia on June 16.

England's 0-0 draw against Slovenia secured top spot in Group C. Gareth Southgate's side were already assured of qualification for the last 16 before the match thanks to results from the other groups, but they will now face a third-ranked team in the next round.

The Netherlands are one of the teams England could face in their last-16 tie in Gelsenkirchen on Sunday after losing 3-2 to Austria earlier on Tuesday. Depending on Wednesday's results, England could face the third-placed team in Group E, which could be Belgium, Slovakia, Romania or Ukraine.
