First responders search for missing kayaker

BELLA VISTA, Ark. — The body of missing kayaker, Christopher Jaglin, 59, of Bella Vista, was found Tuesday afternoon, May 28, in Sugar Creek, just north of Sugar Creek Center, according to a statement on the Department's social media Bella Vista Police Department.

“This was a joint effort by our officers, the Bella Vista Fire Department, the Benton County Sheriff's Office, the Bella Vista Street Department and the Highfill Police Department to conduct the search, and the investigation will be turned over to the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission,” the release states.

Original Story: Bella Vista Police are attempting to locate a missing Bella Vista man who allegedly went kayaking in Sugar Creek on Sunday morning, May 26.

Christopher Jaglin, 59, was last seen on camera at 11:47 a.m. Sunday as he prepared to go kayaking in Sugar Creek behind the Sugar Creek Shopping Center in Bella Vista, according to a news release .

Police were notified of Jaglin's disappearance at 8 a.m. Monday and began searching for him on foot, as well as using ATVs and drones. The Bella Vista Fire Department's Swift Water Team is also searching.

Jaglin is a white male, 5 feet 11 inches tall and weighing approximately 225 pounds. According to the release, he was last seen with an orange and red kayak, wearing dark shorts, a green shirt and a dark hat.

Police are asking the public to keep an eye out for Jaglin and report anything that seems unusual. Residents who live in the area and have outdoor cameras that may have captured his movements are asked to contact the department at 479-855-3771.

“We do not recommend kayaking or swimming in area rivers or streams at this time as recent heavy rains have caused an increase in debris,” a department social media post Monday afternoon said.
