SACRAMENTO — Sacramento-area firefighters battled fire after fire overnight as Fourth of July celebrations raged into the early hours of Friday.

Authorities say at least one house fire was likely started by fireworks.

Sacramento firefighters responded to the 600 block of Piedmont Drive and found flames between two homes. Firefighters responded quickly and were able to stop the flames from spreading inside the homes.

No injuries were reported, but the extent of the fire damage is unknown. Sacramento Fire Department officials say fireworks were the likely cause of the Piedmont Drive incident.

In Citrus Heights, Sacramento Metro fire crews responded just before midnight Friday to a report of a massive fire at a garage along Ebonywood Court.

Firefighters say all occupants of the Ebonywood Court home were able to escape safely and the flames were brought under control before they spread to other homes.

The exact cause of the Ebonywood courthouse fire is still under investigation.

Earlier in the night, authorities said illegal fireworks were likely the cause of a roof fire at a middle school in Sacramento.
