Firerose Breaks Silence on Alleged Abuse at Billy Ray Cyrus' Wedding

Firerose accuses Billy Ray Cyrus of waging a “smear campaign” to discredit her following their split.

In a new interview with Page Six, Australian singer Firerose detailed her alleged experience of isolation, control and verbal abuse during her marriage to country music star Billy Ray Cyrus.

Firerose, 37, claims Cyrus imposed strict rules in her life, controlling her movements, her communication and even her access to those close to her. “I didn’t have a car. I was only allowed to go to the local chiropractor and have my nails done once a month… It was systematic isolation and I couldn't find the courage to leave,” she said. revealed.

She also claims that Cyrus monitored her text messages and emails, forcing her to read them out loud to gain his approval. After moving in with him in Tennessee, she claims he isolated her from everyone around her except her Alcoholics Anonymous sponsor.

Firerose, who was diagnosed with BRCA1 and is scheduled to undergo a double mastectomy, claims Cyrus insisted she recover in a cabin on his farm with a nurse, rather than with his friends who had offered to 'help.

The singer also discussed the beginnings of their relationship, which began in 2010 while Cyrus was still married to Tish Cyrus. She claims Cyrus repeatedly told her he was getting a divorce, leading her to believe he was single. “I would never have had a relationship with a married man,” she said, “but he was such a manipulator.”

After their separation, Firerose accused Cyrus of launching a “smear campaign” against her, resulting in the loss of work opportunities and income. She claims he used her love letters against her, trying to paint her as the aggressor in their relationship.

Cyrus has previously denied Firerose's abuse allegations and accused her of abuse in court documents.

Firerose, who now lives with a friend in Tennessee, hopes that by sharing her story she can inspire courage in other victims of domestic violence. “If I can’t use my public platform, then what chance does anyone have of success?” she asks.
