Firefighters respond to fire at northwest side apartments

San Antonio firefighters are investigating the cause of the fire. No injuries were reported.

SAN ANTONIO — Several units of the San Antonio Fire Department were on the scene of an apartment fire on the city's northwest side Tuesday morning.

Firefighters arrived at the Abbey Apartments at Medical Center, in the 5400 block of Rowley Road, where eight units were affected by a fire believed to have started on the second floor, according to SAFD.

Some animals are missing at this time, but no one was injured in the fire.

The SAFD battalion chief said preliminary information appears to indicate the fire may have been an accident, but they are continuing to investigate the cause.

This is a developing story.
