Firefighters put out fire at D&D Deck and Docks Wednesday evening

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Corpus Christi Fire crews extinguished a large structure fire at D&D Decks and Docks on The Island, located at 15815 South Padre Island Drive, Wednesday evening.

Crews responded around 10:40 p.m. after a passerby reported the building was on fire, according to Battalion Chief Robin McGill. The business was then unoccupied.

Business owner Taylor Floyd arrived on scene quickly after customers shared Facebook posts with him about the fire. It is fortunate that no one was working or in the store at the time of the fire.

“It’s going to be a challenge, but we know the Lord is with us, so we’re going to get through it,” Floyd said.

No injuries were reported, but one firefighter was briefly treated for heat exhaustion, according to CCFD officials.

McGill said since the winds are not very strong at the time, bushfires are not a problem at the moment.

The scene remains under investigation. The cause of the fire is not yet known.
