Firefighters battle new grass fire west of Tracy near the Corral Fire site

ALAMEDA COUNTY — Crews responded late Monday afternoon to another wildland fire burning just northwest of the Corral Fire, which has burned more than 14,000 acres near Tracy over of the weekend.

This new fire had burned at least 15 acres when first checked, but quickly spread to about 95.5 acres, Cal Fire's Santa Clara unit said. Fire containment was approximately 50% as of 6 p.m. Cal Fire previously reported the fire burned 110 acres, but gave a more precise figure in a later update.

The new fire was burning east of Livermore along Patterson Pass Road, just west of Midway Road in Alameda County. This is located near the San Joaquin County line, just west of Tracy and south of Mountain House.

Cal Fire said several structures were threatened, but as of 6 p.m., no damage had been reported.

The Tracy Police Department has issued a travel advisory to avoid the area of ​​Patterson Pass Road, west of Interstate 580. Traffic on the highway was not affected by the fire .

Patterson Pass Road is expected to be closed for several hours in this area. No evacuations have been ordered due to the Patterson Pass Road fire.

While crews were increasing containment on the Patterson Pass Road fire, another grass fire had started just down the road in the same area, Cal Fire said. Containment of this fire was also at 50%.

At the same time, firefighters worked to contain this new fire, to confine the Corral fire was up to 75% Monday morning. This fire resulted in evacuation orders over the weekend, but these were downgraded to warnings on Sunday, and then all warnings were lifted Monday evening.

At least a house was destroyed and two firefighters were injured in the Corral fire. The cause remains under investigation.
